CMU’s Native American Programs Office

The Native American Programs Office (NAP) on the Central Michigan University campus is responsible for various activities all related to the Native American community and culture. NAP seeks to increase awareness of cultural, social, and artistic traditions of the Native American culture on campus and through community outreach, while focusing on the recruitment and retention of Native American students to higher education through creating a comfortable environment on campus and providing assistance to students in their programs and life endeavors. Activities in the Native American Program Office include: organizing cultural events for the CMU community, maintaining a Native American resource collection, recruiting Native American students, serving as a liaison with tribal communities, and providing support services for any CMU student, but particularly CMU Native Americans students. The NAP Office exists in part because of the long standing relationship that CMU has with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is an active sponsor of CMU athletics, various CMU scholarships, and many cultural related activities.

Located in Suite 110-B in Bovee UC at The Center for Inclusion and Diversity, the Native American Programs Office is open Monday thru Friday from 8AM to 5PM.
